The Gospel

Jesus has existed from eternity as the perfect son of God. He was there at creation, and he was one with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit  in creating the world we live in.

The same Jesus put aside all that was his to come as a child. To be born as a baby, and growing up to walk this earth he had created.

He made blind eyes see. He healed the sick, he even raised the dead to life.

Why?

God had made mankind to be his children, to walk in friendship and harmony with God and with each other. The problem is that we went our own way. Each of us, however, have sinned, causing separation between us and God. The cost to us is that ultimately we will die, and we will face God’s judgement, and the punishment is eternal death.

Jesus came on a rescue mission. He can not be simply ignored as a guy that did amazing things, he came to restore us to perfect relationship with God.

How?

Jesus gave himself in our place, to bear the punishment due to us. Jesus died on a cross for our sin. He died in our place, but died ‘as us’. The result is that we can receive his righteousness in exchange for our sin. Jesus was righteous in every regard, and died as you, and died as me, taking our failure to the cross.

The result is that we can now live in complete freedom. The nagging doubt that I am not good enough has been taken away, for I can now stand in Jesus’ righteousness for ever!

There is more!

The good news however doesn’t stop there because Jesus didn’t remain dead in the tomb, but was raised to life again. Appearing to hundreds of people he continued to encourage those early disciples for some days before being raised back to heaven.

Why is this such good news? I’m glad you asked! Jesus is now in heaven as Lord of heaven and earth. In doing so he has authority over all disease and sickness. That authority is given to those that love and serve him, and the same Holy Spirit that was at work through Jesus is also given to those who ask him.

The outcome is that we are fully restored in relationship with God the Father, and we carry the authority of Jesus His son to be his children on earth.

The Choice

Each and every person has to make a choice; for life, or for death. The only way to life is the way that God has provided, and that is through Jesus, through receiving his forgiveness. Do you accept Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross? Do you believe that he rose again? Do you want to follow him?

The Prayer

If you do, then pray this simple prayer:

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You from now on as my Lord and Saviour.

Welcome

If you have just prayed that prayer, and believed in your heart, congratulations and welcome to the family!
